The Spot Sidney
The Spot Restaurant made its beginnings from a man named Spot Miller. In 1907, Spot brought his chuckwagon into town and set-up business at the corner of Court Street and Ohio Avenue. The city would not allow him to sell meals this way. His solution was to remove the wheels, and add some awnings to create a permanent structure. Today, they are a local favorite with some of the best pie in the region.
The Park consists of 220 wooded acres which provide shelters, grounds and areas to play ball. Two lakes (Tawawa and Amos) are located in the complex. The William Ross Covered Bridge dedicated in 1971 is picturesque and has been the object of much photography. It closely resembles several covered bridges constructed in Central Ohio by pioneer bridge designer and builder, Rueben L. Partridge (1823-1900). The parks were named after Tawawa Creek which runs through the grounds. “Big Rock” (glacial rock left from the ice age) located in the park was established in 1876 and is of interest to visitors. Tawawa Park includes the Baumgardner Basin Soccer Fields, the Flanagan Sports Complex, and the Sidney Water Park Park Features include: Basketball Fishing Modular Play Structure and Swings Natural Areas Open Green Space Sand Volleyball Shelter Softball Diamonds Soccer Fields Topographical Features Walkway / Bikeway

Charleston Falls Preserve is the most visited Park District property in Miami County with over 216 acres of prairie and forests. This beautiful park is the perfect place to hike and view wildlife. Uncommon plants such as wild columbine, walking fern, purple cliff break and rock honeysuckle grace the limestone faces of the surrounding gorge. The most unusual feature of this preserve is the unique waterfall. The Falls can rightly be called a “Miniature Niagara” because its rock strata is the same as Niagara Falls. Originating from small underground springs several miles to the east, the stream creating the falls plummets 37 feet then continues its meandering journey to the Great Miami River. Over three miles of trails pass through various habitats such as Redbud Valley and the Thorny Badlands, offering explosions of color and varieties of scenic wonder. Help protect this unique natural site by using the trials provided and following the rules of the Preserve.

Newly built Third Street bridge is called a symbol of unity. This bridge is not only the connection for commuters from West Dayton to downtown but its design was meant to bring people together. The bridge, designed with extensive community ideas and input, features eight topics important to the neighborhood and the Miami Valley. In addition, local artist Bing Davis gathered Adinkra African symbols, all about peace and how to live a good life, and installed them on the sidewalks, as well as one image that he designed himself. With 95% federal money, this $17 million dollar project, is now the biggest bridge job in county history. The bridge was coming apart in more ways than one so leaders decided to rebuild the entire thing rather than trying to rehabilitate it. Several community partners and the public came together to brainstorm and make this happen. The new bridge is five lanes wide, has a standard left turn lane towards the intersections, has a 10-foot walk on the north side, and then a 17-foot wide multi-use trail on the south side for people to walk and bike across. There’s also a stairway at the northwest corner of the bridge and a plaza underneath where people can find local art.
